Thank you for visiting Prolific Against All Odds:
The women authors of 18th-19th century Andover

The women in this exhibit have come from a variety of backgrounds. They have been historians, essayists, children's book authors, librarians, advocates, and so much more. What they all shared was a desire to create and a willingness to suceed, against all odds. There are way too many women authors in Andover to cover them all. This exhibit has just touched the surface. We implore you to read some of their works and seek out the modern writers of Andover, as there are so many to discover.

We hope that you enjoyed this online exhibit which was based on a walking tour conducted at the Andover Center for History and Culture in 2022.

Please visit our online catalog which contains many other photographs related to these authors, The November Club, and Abbot Academy.

Detailed information on many of the buildings and homes can be found on the Andover Historic Preservation web site.
