An independent nonprofit 501c3 history center.
Funded by the generosity of people like you.

In a time when they were deprived of certain rights, the women authors of Andover formed clubs and church groups, advocated for their communities, wrote bestselling books, became pivotal figures in the abolition movement, and more - all while being considered less than a man.

In this exhibit, we are going to learn the stories of 8 of these fascinating women and explore the spaces they frequented. What they chose to write varied greatly, but what they all had in common was their impressive talent and determination to become prolific, against all odds.
