Smith and Dove Mill
The map shows the center of Frye Village in greater detail.  Many of the structures associated with the Smith and Dove mill can be seen- the tenement buildings, storehouses, the mill itself and the dam across the Shawsheen River.
The Smith and Dove mill was established in Frye Village in 1835 by brothers John and Peter Smith and their friend John Dove.  All were from Brechin, Scotland. The mill originally manufactured linen thread for shoe and sail making.
The mill buildings and dam were demolished during the construction of Shawsheen Village.
